I said I would never pay to virtually run a race (I can just open my front door and go for a run for free, right??), but then 2020 happened, I needed some Disney in my life, the themes were fun, and medals were adorable. Before I knew it, I was signed up for the runDisney Virtual Challenge.
The Challenge is made up of three 5k races throughout the summer. You can sign up for one, or a couple, of the individual races, or do the Challenge and get a forth Challenge medal. This series’ themes are Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, and the Challenge theme is a vintage ticket book. They are all adorable!
For the Virtual Series, you simply sign up and then just wait for medals to arrive in the mail. You don’t submit a score anywhere, it is all on the honor system. You can download a cute, on theme race bib, along with a start, finish, individual mile marker signs, and a little certificate that says “You Did It!” with a spot to put your time from the run. Each of these things is available for all three races.
Whether you are new to running or a more experienced runner, there are free training materials on the runDisney site. They have training programs for all the different distances and challenges that runDisney hosts, plus different programs based on experience level. I have followed some of the training programs and like them personally. You can find them here if you’d like to take a look for yourself! These training programs are free to download even if you don’t sign up for any runDisney events.
I can’t wait for my medals to come! I will be sure to share them when they arrive!
If you are ready to sign up for a runDisney event, let me help! I can help you sign up for the race and reserve a room on Disney property long before the races go on sale to anyone who doesn’t use a travel agent specializing in Disney. If you’d like to sign up for your next runDisney race weekend or just interested in your next non-running Disney trip email me at Jill@ThinkTheHappiestThoughts.com or fill out the “Free Quote” form at the top of the page.
