WDW Dining Plans

If you stay on property in Walt Disney World, you have the opportunity to purchase the dining plan.  Lots of people question whether they need it or whether it’s worth it. I think the dining plan can be worth it, but let me break it down a bit.

Dining in WDW is broken down to Table-Service dining, which is a sit down meal and Quick-Service which is a grab and go type of dining.  There are also 3 different dining plans. The basic details of the dining plans are below, but you can find more specifics of what exactly each type meal includes here

Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan

Everyone over the age of 3 gets each of the below per night stayed in the resort

  • 2 Quick-Service meals
  • 2 snacks or non-alcoholic drinks
  • Refillable mug to be used in resort cafeteria

Now, on to if the dining plan is “worth it” or not …

If you are the type of person who likes to have things all prepaid for and not have to worry about much while you are on vacation, you will love having the dining plan.  All three options consist of a good deal of food.

If you are interested in character dining, you would really like the dining or deluxe dining plans because they include character dining meals!  Some of these meals can be costly, so even though there can be some sticker shock while looking at the cost of food for an entire family for an entire vacation, it can certainly be a savings in the end.

If you have a picky eater in your party, it may not be a great fit for your family, but I think the best option is to look at all the dining you have planned for your trip and see what those meals add up to (picky eater and all).

Like most things to be planned for a trip to Walt Disney World, it can feel like a lot to keep track of all your dining plan credits (or to even decide if it will be helpful to have it for your family), and that’s where your travel agent can come in!  I’d love to help you plan your next pixie dusted vacation!
