Too young for a trip to Disney??

One of the most common questions I am asked or see on social media posts is “What’s the best age to bring kids to Disney?” or “Is ____ too young to bring my child to Disney??”

I think a trip to Disney is perfect for any age!

Obviously, there are ages where kids understand more of what’s going on, but even if a younger child doesn’t understand that they are on vacation in Disneyland, they can still experience the magic.  In the photo on the right, my daughter is 16 months old and has no idea she’s in Disneyland, but the way she is looking at Belle makes my heart beam and my eyes misty.

“They won’t even remember the trip” is the most common rationale I hear for waiting until a child is older to bring them.  I agree that when my daughter is 26, without having the photo, she won’t be able to organically come up with the fact that she met Belle at 16 months. My son is just over 4 in that photo, and even he probably won’t remember. I totally agree with these statements.

At 10 months old (left), we brought our daughter to Disney World, and even though she wasn’t even a year old, she definitely enjoyed herself.  She took some of her first real, unassisted steps on the hub grass while we all ate dinner at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. That is an amazing memory to have captured!  If this isn’t a happy face, I don’t know what is!!

Even though it’s been a little over a year since we were in Disney World, my son still asks about going back to ride Slinky Dog or Big Thunder Mountain.  So, while he might sort of age out of these memories, he 100% still remembers today.

Here is our 3.5 year old having the time of his life on Slinky Dog Dash.

If I agree that the kiddos won’t remember the trip, why in the world spend the money to bring them??  For me, getting to watch (and photograph) my children experience that Disney magic is worth every single penny.

No matter where we go, they likely won’t remember the vacation outside of the photos, so I want the magic.
